Scanning photos and documents
Photograph a school letter, a printed schedule, or a screenshot and Kerfuff will extract the events and present them as drafts for you to approve. Nothing is added to your calendar without you confirming it.
Paid plan required
AI capture requires the paid plan and is limited to 50 scans per calendar month. See Plans & billing.
Scanning a photo or document

Open Capture
Tap the camera icon in the app navigation or go to the Capture section. You can upload files or paste text directly.

Upload your file
Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, PDF. You can upload up to 5 files at once. Maximum file size is 12 MB per file. You can also paste text directly if you have copied the content from an email or website.

Wait for processing
Kerfuff sends your file to its AI service. Processing typically takes a few seconds to under a minute. You will receive a notification when the review is ready.

Review the drafts
You are taken to the review screen where each extracted event, task, list item or recipe is shown. You tick which ones to add, then confirm.
Reviewing drafts
The review screen shows everything the AI found. Each item shows the extracted text, the quoted evidence from the source, and a confidence indicator.
Confidence levels
High confidence (≥ 85%). The AI is confident about the date, time and title. These are ticked by default — review and untick any you do not want.
Medium confidence (50–85%). The AI found the item but has a question about the date or wording. An ambiguity note is shown. Review carefully before adding.
Low confidence (< 50%). Shown under 'We also saw' but not offered as a draft. The AI is not confident enough to suggest these as events.
Nothing is added automatically
Even high-confidence drafts require your approval. You can edit the title, date, or assigned person before confirming. Only items you tick and confirm are added to your calendar.

Privacy
Your documents are processed by Claude (Anthropic's AI). Kerfuff logs only job metadata — job ID, processing time, and token counts. The content of your documents, the extracted events, and your review decisions are never logged for training purposes.
Uploaded files are stored temporarily and deleted automatically after 30 days.
